The Scoop:

The Cyst Mode is the V2 of the Cystech Filter Drive I put out a few years ago that was a tiny run. It's a filtered fuzz/distortion effect based on the Systech Overdrive, a device produced in the 70's. The Cyst Mode contains that heart of that circuit but also has several new features.

The standard Systech OD sound can be heard when the mode toggle is selected to DP. This activates the DP control in the filter section and the right side. On the far clockwise end of this control it sounds like a dirty boost and as you turn the control counter clockwise the distortion and filter intensify giving the user a sound that is like a Rat with a resonant filter frying in some bacon grease to more extreme heavy filter synth like tones. In the DP mode, the center rotary switch is inactive.

Flipping toggle switch to the CY mode, the filter depth control is disabled and the central selector rotary switch becomes active and unleashes four experimental fuzz modes. While all four modes are different they all have the ability to showcase extreme sub frequencies and destroyed auto-wah sounds. Experimentation is required, as you can make your guitar sound as ugly as it gets but there's also plenty of beautiful ringing tones to be found as this part of the circuit is "touch sensitive."

With the DP mode being more traditional, the CY modes are meant to disrupt your sound and lean toward the more experimental player. The Cyst Mode is intended for guitar but sounds great with a bass guitar, as well.

Controls:

FILTER knobs:

EQ - Bandwidth of the filter
DP - Filter Depth
DIS - Amount of signal entering the clipping stage of the circuit

POST knobs:

HI - Boost/cut highs
LO - Boost/cut lows
V - Master volume

TOGGLES:

LED / SI - Signal Clipping. The LED setting is more open, louder. The silicon setting is more compressed.

DP / CY - DP mode or Cyst Mode
